Student Athlete Spotlight: Eric Mahaffey.

The Moeller Basketball Team has just completed one of its best seasons in recent memories. While the season did not end as the Moeller family had hoped, it was still a monumentally successfully year for the Crusaders.

The Crusader talked with Eric Mahaffey ahead of the final game. Mahaffey has averaged 8.9 points, 3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game this season, with two games hitting a season high of 16 points.

The Crusader: How have you embraced this final year of basketball here at Moeller?

Mahaffey: You know, honestly, it has been flying by. Thankfully our season has not ended yet and we are still playing, but this year has just been amazing.

The Crusader: What makes this group of athletes so special.

Mahaffey: For us, it is chemistry. I feel as if the team just blends so well. That is a good part of why we are having so much success this year. But overall, Coach Kremer has really done an amazing job coaching us for such moments.

The Crusader: And finally, you are committed to play collegiate basketball at the Division 1 level at Akron next year. How do you feel that Moeller has prepared you to do so.

Mahaffey: Throughout my four years at Moeller, I have definitely learned a lot. But when it comes to basketball, I feel like I have grown so much. With the coaches, the players, and my family’s help throughout these years, I believe that my love for the game has never been better.

The Crusader would like to thank Eric Mahaffey for the interview, and we would like to wish Eric good luck at Akron next year!
