Moeller Rugby Hoping to Finish Strong
Moeller Rugby, led by Head Coach Dominic Denoma, has not had much success this season. The team started strong with some good wins in a couple of pre-season tournaments; however, heading into league matches, the team struggled going 0-3 against St. Ignatius, St. Xavier, and St. Edwards.
The Crusaders went to their most recent game against Withrow, and the team looked great. The final score was 60-10, with plays coming left and right showing that this team is ready to come back for vengeance in the state tournament. Their next upcoming game is a tournament hosted by St. Xavier, which gives the team a chance to beat the Bombers.
The Crusader talked with two seniors on the team, Isaac Shade and Alex Robinson.
The Crusader: What are you looking forward to most as the season wraps up?
Shade: Getting another chance at state and being able to finish out this season for one last time with all my best friends.
Robinson: I’m looking forward to our senior night, and I’m ready to play the rest of the season with all my friends.
The Crusader: What is your favorite memory over your past four years as a Moeller Rugby player?
Shade: It came in my sophomore season when we beat St. Ignatius in the state championship for the U17 team.
Robinson: My favorite memories have all come from the bus rides back with all my teammates. Its one of the best times to just hangout and talk for a couple hours back from the games.
The Crusader: How do you see the season ending this year?
Shade: I see it ending with a ring on my finger. I’m confident in our team, and I know we can pull it together and be the best Moeller Rugby team ever.
Robinson: We’re going for it all. We did it sophomore year, and we’re ready to do it again.
The Crusader thanks Isaac Shade and Alex Robinson for talking today!
