Moeller Basketball in College

 

In the last 36 years, Moeller basketball has sent over 46 players to play Division I basketball. Currently, there are nine Moeller alumni playing in college, eight of them playing at Division I schools. Here are a few men of Moeller at the next level:

 

 

Maxwell Land

Maxwell graduated in 2020. Originally committed to play at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. In his freshman year, he started in 17 games, averaging almost nine points per game and earning a spot on the NEC All-Rookie team at the end of the season. In his junior season, Max started 30 games and averaged 12.8 points per game, scoring a career-high 26 points against Hartford. After his junior season, Max decided to transfer to South Alabama University after averaging 10.1 Pts  3.4 Reb  0.8 Ast  39.7 FG% in just his first 9 games before suffering a ACL injury that would put him out the remainder of the season taking him out the 2023-2024 season. Max has also been out the whole course of this season due to the same injury in the same leg. The south Alabama jags have had an historical season with co-sharing the Sun Belt conference with Arkansas state.

 

 

Alex Williams

Alex Williams is a senior at Duquesne University a rising team in Pittsburgh pa. He graduated from Moeller in 2021, where he led the team in scoring with nearly 16 points per game earning 1st team all GCL. After his senior season at Moeller, he committed to playing at Furman University, where he spent his first three seasons of collegiate basketball. During his time at Furman, he averaged 8.3 points per game, including 13.2 points per game in his junior year. Alex has not appeared in any games of the 2024-2025 season due to injury. The Duquesne Dukes finish 13-19, 9th in A-10 right around the middle of the standings.

 

Logan Duncomb

Logan Duncomb graduated in 2021, was also a McDonald’s All-American nominee his senior year of high school. He committed to play basketball at Indiana University, where he played 9 games each season during his two years there. For his junior year, he transferred to Xavier University but decided not to play basketball and took the year off and stuck with school before the next season, he then transferred to Winthrop University for his senior year. After player his first year at Winthrop University he averaged Pts 3.0 Reb 2.5 Ast 0.1 FG% 54.2 on 8 minutes a game. The Winthrop Eagles finished 23-11, 2nd in Big South behind High Point.

 

Evan Mahaffey

Evan Mahaffey finished his senior season at Moeller in 2022, where he was a finalist for Ohio Mr. Basketball, GCL Player of the Year, Ohio Player of the Year, and a three-star recruit. Originally, Evan committed to Penn State, where he played 34 games as a true freshman. When his coach left for Notre Dame, Evan decided to return to his home state to play for Ohio State University. He is now in his junior year at Ohio State, he averaged Pts 3.6 Reb 3.1 Ast 0.8 FG% 67.1. on about 16 minutes. The Buckeyes finished their season 17-15, 10th in Big Ten. Right above .500.

  

Eric Mahaffey

Eric graduated in 2024. Leading into the 2024-2025 season for Eric Mahaffy for the Akron zips he suffers an injury that sets him back most of the regular season not allowing eric to see much of the floor his freshman year. On the other hand the Zips are have had a great regular season. Now 2024-2025 Mac Champions ending conference play 17-1. The Zips have punched there ticket to the dance and will be the #11 seed playing #4 seed Arizona to determine who moves on. Eric suffered a injury during preseason that limited him to get on the floor this season.
